Subject:Family Tree research - James BURGESS

Just looking up my family tree (my uncle has been working hard on it) and it says we have a relative named James Alfred Burges - son of James Burgess who was born in Chorlton in 1879. He married Isabella Dempster Cross on 19th May 1902. I just wondered if anyone had any other information they could add to our story??? A photo, an address, an occupation etc. Thank you very much.

Subject:Barlow family connection

Hello,

Sir Robert de Barlow is my 21st great grandfather.

In 1698 Ruth Barlow married John Morehouse, and in 1703 Gershom Morehouse SR was born.

The Barlow bloodlines may be dispersed, but it's not extinct.

Subject:Ancestors from Chorlton-cum-Hardy

Thank you for your very interesting articles. We live in South Africa and my nephew, Graham Beverley has recently traced my paternal grandmother's family, the Brundretts back to Stockport in 1540. My great (6) grandfather was born in Hardy in 1638 and the family remained there for +/-260 years, my father being born in Chorlton-cum Hardy in 1905.
We briefly drove through the town a few years ago to see the house in which my father was born but at that time I had no idea that the family had remained there for so many years. On our next visit to the UK we will definitely be paying another visit.

Very interested in the history.
My grandfather, Daniel Dewar Fergusson, was born in Chorlton in 1862.
His father was Duncan Christie Fergusson a teacher who moved from Scotland to Chorlton and raised an extended family there.
Regards
