Welcome to my site.

My name is Anthony Walker. I lived in Chorlton-cum-Hardy from 1941 to 1992 and spent many a happy day in Longford Park, Chorlton Park and of course Chorlton Meadows fishing for tiddlers and frog spawn. In those days it cost a penny to cross the River Mersey by way of Jackson’s Boat Bridge. Happy Days. In later years I became quite interested in the history of Chorlton and began gathering information and pictures of Old Chorlton. Lots of local people were very helpful by letting me copy documents and make copy photographs on 35mm film of early postcards.

I was lucky enough to have a couple of meetings the local historian John M Lloyd, who in 1972 published his book “The Township of Chorlton-cum-Hardy” a complete history of Chorlton. I hope you find this site interesting and enjoyable as I feel compelled to share my collection of documents and pictures etc with everybody and feel free to use the contents for your own use and projects etc. If anybody has any old photographs, postcards or documents in their possession and like them to be included in the site please contact me.
